About
Hi, I am Arnout Reynders, the creator of L' Haute Homme.
I am a (product) engineer with a background in design and development, currently working at Darwin Design. My work sits between thinking and making, understanding how things are built, how they function, and how they can be improved.
I have a master's degree in industrial engineering and a bachelor's degree in design and product development, where I developed a strong interest in both the technical and conceptual side of products. Not just how something looks, but how it is made, assembled, and used.
Over time, I noticed that a lot of ideas never move beyond sketches or concepts. L' Haute Homme started as a way to change that. What began as a simple folder of ideas became a place to actually build them.
During the last year of my bachelor, I felt the urge to start making things myself. Not because I really wanted to, but because I wanted to learn. Welding, 3D printing, programming… these are things I taught myself, not by studying them in theory, but by simply starting and figuring them out along the way.
Since I was interested in how things are made, my first projects were mainly about how I could make things cheaper and how I could build them myself. With a limited set of tools at my parents' place, this was often a challenge.
The focus is not on perfect results, but on learning through making. Trying new things, exploring materials, testing concepts.
Some projects are useful, some are not. But each one is a step in understanding how things work.
This space reflects that process.
